More details
- - User content: poll questions, options, images you upload, room names, and comments you post.
- - Votes: selections you make, timestamps, and (for analytics/security) metadata such as hashed IP address, country/city (when available), device type, browser, and OS.
- - Guest identifiers: if you use Pollix without logging in, we assign a guest identifier via a cookie so we can support core features (for example, preventing vote spam and remembering basic state).
- - Analytics: we use Vercel Analytics, and we may also use Google Analytics if enabled, to understand traffic and product performance.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- - Provide Pollix features (create polls, vote, rooms, analytics).
- - Authenticate you and secure accounts/sessions.
- - Process payments and manage subscriptions/plans.
- - Prevent abuse and fraud (rate limiting, anomaly detection, security monitoring).
- - Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- - Improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
We don't sell your personal information.
5. Cookies & local storage
Pollix uses cookies and browser storage to make the service work. Some are essential.
Examples of essential cookies/storage
- - `pollix_token`: an HttpOnly cookie used to support authentication/session features.
- - `pollix_guest_id`: an HttpOnly cookie used for guest sessions.
- - `pollix_unlock_*`: feature cookies used to store access/unlock state for specific polls/rooms.
- - localStorage: may store non-sensitive state like a room display name, creator markers, or bookmarks/vote state to improve UX.
Note: Analytics tools may also set cookies or similar identifiers depending on your browser settings and configuration (for example, Google Analytics if enabled).
6. AI features
Pollix includes optional AI features (for example, generating poll questions/options, generating insights, comment moderation, and vote anomaly detection).
What data AI may process
- - Text you provide for AI generation (topic, prompts, context snippets).
- - Poll content needed to compute insights (question, options, vote counts).
- - For safety/security features, recent vote patterns may be analyzed and can include hashed IP identifiers and country (when available).
- - Comments may be checked for toxicity to keep discussions civil.
Important: Please don't include sensitive personal data in prompts or comments. AI outputs are best-effort and may be inaccurate.
AI is powered by Google Gemini via Genkit.
7. Sharing & processors
We share data with service providers only as needed to operate Pollix. These providers act as processors/service providers.
- - Google/Firebase: authentication, Firestore, and file storage.
- - MongoDB: application database storage (polls, votes, comments, rooms, users).
- - Vercel: hosting and performance/traffic analytics (Vercel Analytics).
- - Google Analytics: website analytics if enabled in our configuration.
- - Razorpay: payment processing and related compliance.
- - AWS SES: outbound emails (such as transactional emails).
- - Google Gemini via Genkit: AI processing for optional AI features.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and security of Pollix and its users.
8. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- - Account data is kept while your account is active.
- - Polls, votes, and comments are kept while the poll/room exists and for reasonable periods for integrity, analytics, and abuse prevention.
- - Guest identifiers may persist (for example, up to 1 year) to support basic functionality and reduce abuse.
9. Security
We use reasonable security measures, including SSL/TLS encryption in transit and access controls. For certain analytics/security purposes, Pollix stores a hashed version of IP information instead of storing raw IP addresses.
